Carnival Adds Luminosa to Baltimore Cruises for 2028 and 2029

Posted October 29, 2026

Carnival Cruise Line opened its 2028-29 Baltimore cruise schedule on October 29, 2026, with Carnival Luminosa joining Carnival Miracle to offer departures from Maryland. The newly available sailings run from six to 14 days and cover the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada and New England, and the Caribbean. For Mid-Atlantic travelers, that means more ways to reach warm-weather destinations without first flying to a Florida cruise port.

The biggest change is Carnival Luminosa's Baltimore debut in November 2028, following a planned dry dock. Carnival says the two-ship program will visit 22 destinations, with itineraries currently available through April 2029.

  • Booking status: The newly announced Baltimore sailings are open for reservations now.
  • Ships: Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Miracle.
  • Travel window: Carnival Miracle's newly released dates span September 2028 to April 2029; Luminosa arrives in November 2028.
  • Trip lengths: Six to 14 days, depending on ship and destination.
  • Where they sail: The Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada/New England, Eastern Caribbean and Southern Caribbean.

What cruises will Carnival Luminosa offer from Baltimore?

Carnival Luminosa will sail a mix of seven- and eight-day Bahamas cruises, nine-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries, and longer 12- and 14-day Carnival Journeys cruises to the Southern Caribbean. The extended voyages feature destinations including Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Croix, St. Maarten and St. Thomas, depending on the sailing.

Those longer trips are especially interesting for travelers who want islands farther south than a typical weeklong Bahamas cruise can reach from Baltimore. They also require more vacation time, so compare the full day-by-day itinerary, not just the number of ports.

Carnival says Luminosa will arrive after dry dock with refreshed spaces and improvements throughout the ship. Specific renovation features have not yet been detailed in the October 29 announcement. Luminosa is an existing ship, not a newbuild, so travelers should not assume it will have every attraction found on Carnival's newest Excel-class vessels.

Where will Carnival Miracle sail in 2028 and 2029?

Carnival Miracle's newly opened departures cover a particularly broad range of trips. Six- to eight-day cruises will visit the Bahamas or Bermuda. Nine-day Eastern Caribbean voyages include ports such as Amber Cove, San Juan, St. Maarten or St. Thomas, depending on the route.

For travelers seeking a longer getaway, Carnival lists eight Carnival Journeys cruises lasting 12 to 14 days. Their Eastern and Southern Caribbean stops can include Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curaçao, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Tortola.

There is also a non-tropical option: two eight-day Canada and New England sailings in September 2028, featuring ports such as Portland, Maine; Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Saint John, New Brunswick. Those are worth comparing if coastal cities and early fall scenery appeal more than beach days.

What does the expanded Baltimore schedule mean for travelers?

Baltimore is a practical departure point for many travelers in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and nearby states. Driving to the port can remove airfare and a pre-cruise flight connection from the vacation budget, although parking, fuel and possible hotel costs still matter.

The choice also goes beyond ship names. A shorter Bahamas or Bermuda itinerary can fit a one-week vacation more easily, while a 12- or 14-day Southern Caribbean sailing may be a better match for travelers who want a wider variety of islands. Longer departures from Baltimore naturally involve more time at sea to reach distant ports.

Carnival's announced destinations include its Paradise Collection stops at Celebration Key, RelaxAway Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk and Amber Cove. These are not on every itinerary, so check the specific port list before choosing a sailing.

Are prices and exact departure dates available?

Carnival says the sailings are available to book as of October 29, 2026, but its announcement does not give a single starting fare. Prices vary by departure, cabin, occupancy and promotions, and some routes may sell out earlier than others. Check the total fare, taxes and fees, cancellation terms and any add-ons when comparing options.
